Very exciting to see Parisian-based knitwear and eco fashion designer, Risto Bimbiloski, getting some well-deserved press of late. Karin Nelson's NY Times PULSE column featured this Bimbiloski mini-dress on model and Alter Eco host, Angela Lindvall. It's refreshing when nice folks and consciously-aware designers get some love and time in the sun.
One of my favorite eco boutiques, Eco Citizen in San Francisco, is having a gorgeous holiday sale with select items that are under $100. 'Tis the season to be wise with one's funds and one's choices. The opportunity to think sustainably about all things green is certainly aided by Eco Citzen's fine offerings. Take a peak and get inspired!
Unfortunately I am going to miss the opening of Alexander Calder's traveling jewelry exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, but I have already spied the book, and it is totally fabulous. Leave it to artists to have forged new paths in upcycling, before this was even an eco-buzz term. Do not miss Calder's whimsical mobiles at The Whitney as well. My twins were completely mesmerized.
There is perhaps no better example of resourceful East/West resourcefulness than Luisa Cevese's recycled kimono scrap carry all accessories. Luxe bits of hand-picked kimono fabric are collaged and preserved between soft, pliable layers of plastic to create one-of-a-kind portable art totes and home goods. A more sophisticated take on the I'm Not A Plastic Bag phenomenon?
Some accessories just exude sustainable brilliance. These 'moirés grecques' crocheted necklaces by Anaïs Carde are fine examples of delicately crafted fiber bejeweled with natural treasures like polished shell. Fit for a green goddess or simply an environmental crusader, Carde's collection is proof that true inspiration comes from the purest materials and deepest desires.
No, this is not the first signs of winter snowflakes, but inspiring examples of eco*festive cheer for holiday nesting and personal adornment. Alabama Chanin crossed with Tithi Kutchamuch & Nutre Arayavanish ='s a pretty exotic and crafty cocktail. Drink in the appeal of recycled appliqué and origami style bling.

Have I mentioned how much I fantasize about being Scandinavian, seeing Scandinavian, dreaming in Scandinavian? Life is Carbon has now supplanted dezeen as my smörgåsbord of weblog style secrets. I could not resist sharing these gorgeous images of Louise Cambell and Anja Hynynen's designs. Being Celtic is just not the same shade of green.
The 'simply sustainable' design duo, Inessah and Tara of Sublet Clothing, are having a super sweet sale on their eco chic apparel at Clothes ~ Pin. Several of these items have become the iconic essentials for sustainable style 2008. Stock up now on some great pre-holiday treats that you can savor and feel good about all year long.
The Victoria & Albert Museum in London is graciously hosting Conscious Style this Sunday (11/9) as a forum on sustainable style how-to's and ethical fashion dialogue. The cool Brits seem to be leading the pack with BBC Thread, The Ethical Fashion Forum, and now this round up of green fashion progressiveness. Workshops, clothing swaps, and an afternoon runway show will insure that conscious style moves forward, in an educational and resourceful manner.
I love these eco friendly, species-specific jewelry pieces and stationary designs by Prismera. It's not every day that one gets to sport sedum as a necklace or a cuff. Totally 'succulent' in my opinion.
